How do I add my home charger?
Open the app.
Tap the settings wheel.
Tap “Add” next to “Home Charger.”
Select Charger make and model then sign in with your charger credentials.
2. Advanced Tier Features (Scheduled Charging Only)
How do I override my managed charging schedule?
Go to the Dashboard tab and tap the “Boost” button to start charging immediately. This counts as an override for the month if used more than twice during on-peak hours. Utilized during off-peak hours doesn’t count against incentives.
How do I set my Ready-By time?
Open the Smart tab.
Look for the clock icon. (User can set different time for each day of the week)
Set the time you need your vehicle charged by each day.
3. Charging Behavior and Troubleshooting
Why does my car start charging immediately when I plug it in?
There are two common reasons:
Your car or charger may have its own scheduling system enabled. If another schedule is active in the vehicle’s app or the charger app, it can conflict with ev.energy’s commands. Turn off all other schedules.
Your vehicle may perform a short “trickle charge. ”Many EVs begin charging for 1–10 minutes when first plugged in. This stops as soon as ev.energy's stop command activates and does not affect your participation or incentives.
Why does my car stop charging during off-peak hours? (Advanced Tier)
Managed charging is dynamic. The system takes into account:
Your Ready-By time
Your current battery level
Your charging speed
Times of lower grid demand
Because of these factors charging may pause and resume multiple times during off-peak hours. This is normal.
4. Program Tiers and Incentives
What is the Baseline Tier?
To earn the $10 monthly incentive, you must:
Charge during off-peak hours at least 80 percent of the time
Complete at least one home charging session of 15 minutes or more each month
What is the Advanced Tier (Scheduled Charging)?
To earn the $25 monthly incentive, you must:
Allow ev.energy to manage your charging schedule
Avoid overriding the schedule more than twice per month during peak hours*
Complete at least two home charging sessions of 15 minutes or more each month
5. Summary: Baseline vs. Scheduled Charging Tier
The Baseline Tier requires customers to charge during off-peak hours at least 80 percent of the time and complete one home charging session of at least 15 minutes each month. Customers maintain full control of their charging schedules and receive $10 per month for meeting the program requirements.
The Advanced Tier also known as Scheduled Charging or Managed Charging, provides a higher incentive of $25 per month but requires customers to allow ev.energy to manage their vehicle charging automatically. Participants must not override the schedule more than once per month and must complete at least two home charging sessions of 15 minutes or more. This tier is intended for customers willing to let the system optimize their charging for grid benefits.
6. Vehicle Eligibility Updates
Why are Hyundai and Kia vehicles no longer accepted?
- As of October 2025, Eversource has paused new Managed Charging enrollments for Hyundai and Kia vehicles that use vehicle telematics.
- This is due to a potential issue where managed charging commands could impact the vehicle’s 12-volt battery performance.
- Eversource is monitoring the situation and will provide updates if compatibility changes.
7. Enrollment, Rebates, and Incentive Payments
How does account verification work?
- After you enroll in the Managed Charging Program, ev.energy sends your data to Resource Innovations once per week.
- When RI verifies your details, your rebate application continues processing.
You may still receive automated reminders to finish enrollment; you can safely ignore these if your ev.energy app setup is complete.
How are incentives paid out?
Incentives are not paid monthly. They are paid twice per year by check:
October through March (paid out in spring)
April through September (paid out in fall)
Customers must meet the monthly requirements within each six-month cycle to qualify.
