If you live in a multi-unit dwelling (an apartment or condo building with 4 or more units), you are eligible for the MUD Managed Charging Pilot.
This program rewards you for charging your vehicle during hours when demand on the electric grid is lowest.
What are the monthly incentives for the MUD Program?
Unlike the single-family program, the MUD program features a single participation track focused on consistent off-peak charging.
One-Time Enrollment Incentive ($50): You will receive a one-time $50 payment simply for successfully enrolling your vehicle (via telematics) and participating for at least six months.
Monthly Off-Peak Reward ($10/month): You can earn $10 every month (up to $120 per year) for charging during off-peak hours.
The 80% Rule: To qualify for the $10, at least 80% of your total charging at your building must occur during off-peak hours.
Minimum Usage: You must complete at least two charging sessions of 15 minutes or longer at your MUD site during the month to be eligible for that month's reward.
When are "Off-Peak" hours?
To earn your monthly rewards, try to schedule your charging during these times:
Monday–Friday: Anytime before 3:00 PM or after 9:00 PM.
Weekends & Holidays: All day Saturday, Sunday, and major holidays are considered off-peak.
Are there Demand Response bonuses for MUD?
While the primary focus is the $10 monthly off-peak reward, MUD participants are encouraged to participate in Demand Response Events.
These events usually occur on the hottest days of summer (June–September) between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
By shifting your charging away from these specific event windows, you help ensure the reliability of the local power grid.
How and when will I receive my payments?
Managed Charging rewards are not applied to your monthly electric bill. Instead, they are paid out as follows:
Payment Method: All incentives are paid via check sent directly to your home address on file.
Schedule: Payments are issued twice per year (typically in the Spring and Fall) after your charging data has been verified for the previous six-month period.
The April-September Season gets paid in December
The October-March Season gets paid in June
Important Note for MUD Residents: Because you likely share charging infrastructure with other residents, your eligibility is based on your vehicle's connection to our platform (telematics). Ensure your vehicle remains "connected" in the ev.energy app to accurately track your off-peak progress.
